How To Make A Quick And Easy Chicken Curry.

By

Tasty chicken curry

This curry recipe is the quickest and tastiest one I have found. This recipe takes approximately 15 minutes of prep time and about 45 minutes to cook. Very tasty and simple to make. This dish is full of taste and everyone enjoys a good curry. You are guaranteed to get some smiles when you prepare this dish.

Ingredients

 1 tsp salt

5-6 chicken breasts

5-6 medium sized potatoes

3-4 heaping tsp curry powder

1 large onion

3-4 cloves fresh garlic

Approx. 4 tablespoons oil

Serves approx. 6 people

Preparation

1). In a large saucepan,(I use a wok) fry the onion(diced), garlic(chopped fine), curry powder and oil for approximately 3-5 minutes. Make sure not to burn. Remove from pot.

2). Dice up chicken into cubes and fry in same pan until almost cooked.

3). Peel potatoes and cut into cubes.

4). Add chicken, potatoes and onion curry mixture into saucepan. Fill with water until everything is just covered.

5). Simmer for about 45 minutes until the sauce starts to get a thick gravy like consistency.

6). Right before it is ready I will occasionally add some chopped yellow, orange, red or green peppers for a short time.

7). The trick to this recipe is the right curry powder. It has to be Lalah's. best around.

8). Pay the person who gave you the recipe handsomely. I am Joking. Enjoy!!!!

Serving

I have made several variations to this dish. I like to serve it on a bed of rice or rapped up in a flat bread called dhalpourie. This bread is very hard to make and can be very time consuming. A good alternative to the dhalpourie bread is tortilla shells. They are much easier. You simply fill the shell with your curry mixture and make a roti. The dhalpourie breads are very good though. I personally prefer the roti style. I will follow up with a dhalpourie recipe.

Technics below are straight from scratch. I have tried for years and have never been able to make the curry powder as tasty as Lalah's curry powder.

Is there a quick and easy way to make it more like chicken tika masala?

Dwrightie 4 years ago

A great way to turn this into a masala type dish is when it is almost complete and has a pretty thick consistancy add a half to a full can of your favourite tomato sauce. super quick and really tasty.

I tried this and couldn't get the sauce at all thick within the hour. I filled the wok with water until almost covered...do you simmer with lid off or on? Not sure what I did wrong. Thanks!
